College of the Atlantic Campus, Route 3, Bar Harbor, Maine
Free and open to the public, the annual Native American Festival draws a variety of enthusiastic visitors year after year ranging from professional basket collectors and New England travelers to local Maine residents . Co-hosted by the Abbe Museum, Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance, and College of the Atlantic, the festival is considered Maine's largest annual gathering of Native American artists. Meet the artists while learning about and purchasing Wabanaki baskets, carvings, beadwork, dolls and other of beautifully handmade items. The day-long event includes Native music, dance, storytelling, and craft demonstrations and food. A silent auction is open to bidding all day; winners are announced at 3 PM. Parking on campus is very limited and reserved for vendors. Free parking and a shuttle bus at Conners-Emerson School on Eagle Lake Road is the best way to enjoy the festival.
